The Boardwalk and Promenade spans 1.2 miles along Myrtle Beach’s coastline, between the 2nd Avenue Pier and the 14th Avenue Pier, offering great views and events for locals and tourists alike.

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, completed in Spring 2010, held it’s official groundbreaking on May 15.  The project used:

  • 555,000 screws
  • 300,000 nails
  • 600 palmetto trees
  • 50,000 beach grass seedlings

The cost of the Boardwalk was nearly $7 million dollars, a massive undertaking to revive downtown Myrtle Beach.  It has been met with positive reviews and  attracted attention across the nation.  Myrtle Beach’s Boardwalk was named 3rd best in the United States in National Geographic and number two by Travel & Leisure.

The Boardwalk has three different sections, each with it’s own distinct character.  From 2nd Avenue to 8th Avenue is the promenade, complete with benches to take in the beauty of the neighboring ocean.  The next section, between 8th and 14th Avenue, is lined with shops and restaurants.  The Boardwalk from 14th Avenue to Plyler Park has a wooden deck and landscaped dunes.
